Born and raised in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, James’s roots run deep on the East Coast. His academic journey began at Salisbury University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2009, double majoring in history and psychology. But James’s ambition and sense of duty propelled him beyond the classroom into the ranks of the United States Army.
Enlisting as an airborne infantryman, James served with valor in Afghanistan as part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division. This chapter of his life, marked by service and sacrifice, laid a foundation of discipline and grit that would define his path moving forward.
After five years of active duty, James transitioned to the next phase of his journey—law school at Willamette University in Oregon. There, he simultaneously dedicated three years to serving in the Oregon Army National Guard JAG Corps. His time as a court-certified law clerk for the Marion County District Attorney’s Office cultivated a profound passion for jury trials, where he honed his skills by successfully trying numerous cases even before passing the Oregon State Bar.
James’s academic excellence shone brightly, as he graduated in 2017 with a Doctor of Jurisprudence, earning high honors and ranking among the top 10 in his class. But his story is not just one of personal achievement. Upon moving to Douglas County, James served as a Deputy District Attorney, where he amassed invaluable trial experience. Ultimately, he founded DeVecchio Law, LLC, with a clear mission: to provide his clients with the top-tier representation they deserve and to stand fiercely in their defense.
Outside the courtroom, James embraces life fully—running long distances, caring for his Great Pyrenees, and engaging with the vibrant community of Douglas County.
